I wanted some romance with a side of baseball, but I don’t feel like I got either.
Part of me is glad it was so short, because this book didn’t really work for me. But part of me wishes it were longer so there could be space for a story and to get to know the characters and actually care about if they belonged together. It would have given some space for the side characters and their relationships with them (what happened with the assistant/friend’s feelings? Did they leave the mom in the guest house forever? He had a best friend this whole time?).
I also want a tiny bit more sport if it’s going to involve a sport player. It doesn’t need to be insider baseball, but you can’t tell me the Orioles suck in August and then suddenly jump to October and the World Series without a few game highlights in there somewhere.
