I picked this book on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing. I knew nothing about Madeline Astor before reading this book and I can’t imagine living life under so much constant scrutiny from both society and the press. I always enjoy reading about the Titanic, but this book was more than just a Titanic story. It told their whole sweeping love story, from beginning to tragic end.

2.5 -3. I enjoyed large portions of the book but also found the first half to be slow and some parts could have probably been eliminated. I did not know much about the Astors or the lives of the wealthy during that period so I found that interesting. I did wish for an Epilogue about Madeleine's life after the Titanic.
Thought I would enjoy this, but was bored through most of it. It had all the story lines that I would find interesting and want to read but I was just racing to be done with it. As a book club read, I am looking forward to hearing about what I missed as others have given high ratings.
