A very fun and light-hearted read with romance and a twist of mystery to keep the plot moving. Overall it was a quick read, not too deep or unnecessarily long.

My Thoughts:

1. I always enjoy reading witty, humorous dialogue and banter between characters and The Season did not disappoint! It definitely makes it a fun and enjoyable read. I have to admit, if it were not for the wit and humour I would not have bothered to read it. The writing is playful and clever--so much so that it had me giggling.
2. The major fault in this book is largely due to the lack of creativity in the plot. It was all too predictable and cheesy. The mystery wasn't as nearly as interesting, and didn't build any momentum until later on in the story. With that said, it doesn't necessarily mean it was bad... surprisingly with the clichés and cheesy romance, it was very likeable.
3. The romance didn't entirely consume the plot, which I liked. Gavin was a brilliant character and definitely had me swooning!
4. I found the pacing to be slow at the beginning and didn't pick up until almost the end. I got tired of reading about all the balls and dinners (surely balls cannot be the only place people see each other)

I read this back in High School more than 5 years ago, all I can recall specifically on how I felt was that this was one of my favorites at the time and I was upset that none of my friends really read books or enjoyed my type lol. It had a great story line and I loved the small plot twists and action bits thrown into a young adult romantic novel set during the 19th century London Season

This was a cute book about the 1815 London social season with a little espionage and scandal thrown in. So... basically exactly what we have all come to expect from YA books written by modern authors who have read a lot of Jane Austen.

A lot of the plots and language were anachronistic. I just don't see the daughter of a Duke in Regency times running around calling herself Alex. And of course her and her friends have no desires to marry, and love talking about politics. But, that's okay, because when I was young this is exactly what I would have wanted to read. And that's the point.

This was entertaining and that's all it tried to be.

I almost put this book down because the characters were stock brunette-ginger-blonde, but I'm so glad I didn't. After the second chapter, they came into their own and while this is very Austen-inspired, it also carries itself well. I didn't want to put it down to sleep.

I'm definitely adding this to my classroom library, if not shoving it in the hands of my seventh graders who love things like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries (have already succeeded with Pride and Prejudice!)

I know I'm not all tall and skinny or British, but I TOTALLY want to play Alex in the movie so I can fall in love with and be around Gavin. I loooooove Gavin. (And Alex, but not in the same way, of course.) Sarah MacLean is one of the best writers.

Really good. I recommend it for teens. A lovely romance with mystery and espionage!

-If Emma, Elizabeth, and Beatrice (Much Ado) were rolled into one person.
-Small amount of multi POV
-80% is like reading Emma, ending in 20% suspense
