Come, Tell Me How You Live by Agatha Christie

In my opinion, this book is rather a collection of episodes deliberately chosen in order to amuse a reader. I don't mind being entertained, but here it's over the top. However, there are some bits of insightful description of everyday routine of the archeological dig, conducted by Max Mallowan. For those who are interested in archeology it's absolutely must read. I guess, it could be read slowly, piece by piece, in order not to get used to the narration and not to be bored by the style.

Christie's personality really shines through in this memoir about the time she spent with her Husband on an archaeological dig in Syria. It is so witty and charming. I had a smile on my face throughout. There are parts that, seen through 21 century eyes are mildly cringe inducing. The different ethnic groups that they encounter are painted with a very broad and paternalistic brush. Christie is a product of her times, so if you can accept that fact and enjoy the book for what it is, I highly recommend it.

A lovely, charming read that kept a smile on my face all the way through. The author's affection for the country and its people shines through. A delightful read.

Ooft, this had not aged well and made for uncomfortable listening whenever she is talking about their local staff or the various Kurdish, Turkish, Armenian, and other people they meet on their archaeological digs. Not surprising but still not fun to read. If I hadn't wanted to read this to complete a Christie reading challenge, I think I'd have given up.

Agatha Christie married Max Mallowan, an archaeologist she met while visiting the Woolley’s dig at Nineveh (!), and this is the story of Agatha and Max’s expeditions to Syria before WWII.

It is very funny. It is one of my favorites.

Agatha Christie is so funny and this was a lovely story about her own life in the 30's. I'm glad I bought this.
