I couldn't put this book down! I do wish it would have flowed a bit better and not bounced around as much as it did, but it was definitely a page turner!

Meh. It kept me interested, but wasn't as good as some of her other books.

Oh my god.

Such an interesting premise and such a boring book. I just kept reading with the hope it would get better but I reached the end and it was as boring as the beginning. There are many meaningless details about every character and irrelevant plotlines (Mira anyone?). You would think all would sum up in the end but it doesn't so you just wasted your time reading all those pages. Now that I finished reading it I think I could've skipped entire chapters and still understand the end... since the author just drops important details in the last chapters as if she was running out of pages in the book. I'll watch the movie, maybe it will be more entertainig.

It really only took me until halfway through the book to realize who did it. That being said, the second half did serve to answer why and sometimes I like that more. In this case, I was surprised at the motive but not completely pleasantly surprised. Character development was good - not great - but good, but I will be interested to see which of the far too many minor characters are cut from the book for the movie.

In the end, there seemed to be a lot of rushed wrapping up of loose ends.

it was ok, but too much like the other non-Tess book I just read. Just skip this and go straight to the Tess Monaghan series.

I liked this book quite a bit! I was worried, given that Laura Lippman mostly writes mystery series, which I'm not a fan of. I liked the multiple perspectives used to narrate the novel. However, there was one character in particular that I did not care for at all. Luckily, she has more of a bit-part. The ending left me wondering a little. This usually aggravates me very much, but I didn't mind it this time. I might pick up another of Lippman's stand-alones, but it wouldn't be a priority for me.

Meh. I enjoyed the writing, but the story was mediocre.

I guess I expected a little *more* of a twist at the end but it was pretty good.
