i'm... kinda bummed i didn't like this as much as i did the first time. still a remarkable and unique FIRST (???) novel where you can spot seeds of what later becomes of atwood's work. ALSO crazy how the manic-pixie-dream-boy-timothee-chalamet-physique trope has been going strong since 1969!

I'm not sure whether I'm too stupid to get this book or whether it was just really boring. It felt like there was depth and meaning there which just did not reveal itself to me on the first read - if I was studying this academically and deconstructing it, then perhaps it would be better but for a leisurely read, I found this very dull.
