This has been the first book in a while that I truly LOVED. It was beautifully written with descriptive details of the surroundings, emotions and events.  The women-only commune is portrayed as both ethereal and serene—a perceived sanctuary—yet also unfamiliar and unsettling. 
Themes surrounding communes and cults are often sensationalised, particularly in the age of social media and its influence on true crime narratives. However, this novel offers a refreshing and nuanced perspective, capturing the raw vulnerability of the women involved. 
The reader is looking through the lens of 32-year-old Iris who is desperately seeking for approval and purpose after the break-up of her mundane relationship. Her internal struggles with commitment, self-worth, and doubt lend a psychological depth that keeps the reader on edge.
 Ultimately, this is an exploration of control, female rage, and the harsh complexities of real life.
