I really enjoyed this!

This was a solid 3 stars. Everything was fun but not amazing in anyway.
The biggest problem I have is with the art. I don't really like it. I do enjoy how all the characters feel really diffrent and all the diff body type.
Some of the story feels weird but this is the first volume so it should clear out.
Looking forward to book 2

This book had a really unique magic system that I thought was cool. I also haven’t read a graphic novel in a very long time, so this was a nice change. I’m always fascinated by how artists set up their pages, wow! If only I could draw...anything at all! The story moved very quickly which was nice. I think my main issue with the book is that I really didn’t like the main character. She wasn’t much of a hero; she spent the majority of the time running away, better bitter/angry/sad, etc. There was no desire for her to want to do more or get revenge or...anything.

I loved this so much. The art style is what initially drew me to this one, its very bright, bold, colours and it caught my eye when I was going through lists of graphic novels that are perfect for Halloween. I really enjoyed the storyline and our main character Nyneve, who is rebelling against the oppression, it was both humorous and dark which was a nice combination. I loved that we had trans representation in here and that characters were standing up against any prejudices against our trans character, I love to see that. It was left very open-ended so I'm hoping that it continues into a series because I'm super intrigued to see what choices Nyneve makes and the consequences.

Book 2 of WitchAThon

I loved this, but it read as setup for a larger arc of a story. I need more.

The art was nice, the magic system interesting but I didn’t really enjoy this as much as hoped.

Witchy

- I had thought this was a standalone, not a volume one. (my fault, but is annoying)

- Nyneve hasn't had much chance to show off her personality yet, in my opinion. I want more from her-- what her wants and goals are

- the "my family has a mysterious past" is intriguing, if an overdone trope

- the Prill character was confusing to me-- was she a bully or Nyneve's friend? Or one at school and other in private?

- why was the leader of the orphans bff's sister? What were they doing out there? Did Nyneve learn anything in those books?

- who was the tree lady (Epanya?) what was this purpose??

- what is the bird's angle? What is with the spirits and how they affect magic?

- I did like the art, I found it expressive, dynamic, and vibrant. I have a heck of a lot of questions though, and I have not realized it would be so political fantasy. There is easy and inclusive diversity

Probably a 3.5 - good, but wanted more story! I loved the concept of the book with the strength of your magic being tied to the length of your hair and I really liked the characters and the storyline. Then, it ended rather abruptly, but I hope they plan on releasing a second one so I can see what happens (I saw there was more online; however, I don't love reading that way so fingers crossed for a second!)
