A solid introduction to what looks like it will be a series. As a graphic novel, I was impressed by how much information was conveyed through the artwork and the dialog. The main character is different and compelling, and I think the struggle between the current power and those of the rebellion will be interesting to follow. I enjoyed the artwork and the story and look forward to future additions to the series.

This is an intriguing world and system of magic with wonderful, engaging characters. This compiles the first few chapters of the story, and led me to track down the original Witchy website to see where the story has gone from here!

The artwork is absolutely stunning, first of all. In this world, your magical strength is displayed by your hair length. If you're magical enough, you're able to join The Witch Guard. If you're too magical, you'll be burned. This follows Nyneve - and I really don't want to give away too much but it's a really amazing story and I loved it all. It was sweet, humorous, sad, etc. I preordered book 2 and I'm so excited to get my hands on it.

The art for this was very cute, which is about the only really good thing I can say for it, aside from all the diversity points it aims for and achieves. Overall, I was left dissatisfied by a preposterous plot, clunky dialogue, more telling than showing (how is that even POSSIBLE in a graphic novel???), and an awkward ending I completely failed to appreciate.
