Here is my booktube video review:

I am still a little new to the graphic novel world so I don't have much to compare to while I write this review, but we all have to start somewhere. I enjoyed this book and the main character Nyneve who is unique and strong, but doesn't realize it and is still trying to come into her own. She struggles with the death of her father who was executed for having too long of hair (the longer your hair the stronger your magic). I adore her mother who is fierce and strong and she is so supportive of Nyneve. Their relationship is so wonderful and I could feel their connection. I am curious as to whether this is going to be a series. The end makes you feel that way, but I'm not seeing much info on that. Overall it was a solid read and I'd like to see what happens to the characters.

It was okay- I was excited about this premise, but the story telling felt really shaky. There was also a section with a character that wasn’t well established early and it was like “remember, so and sos sister??”
On the plus side- really great trans rep and girls supporting girls. I think this has a lot of potential, but a rocky start for sure.

I definitely enjoyed this story, but I didn't really get drawn in until very close to the end. I really wanted to get to know the characters a little more deeply so I could be more attached to them. I think honestly the raven is my favorite at this point and he's only in the last half of the book. Sassy talking bird? Yes please.

“If others pull you from the darkness, it's because they believe your life is worth living. Don't push them away because you don't feel you deserve it.”

Witchy is set up with a very fun premise, where the length of your hair determines your magical prowess. Although the story started out very strong in the beginning, I felt that it lost a lot of its momentum along the way and pattered out by the end. Unfortunately, the actual characters (apart from Banana the raven) and the world, which has a lot of potential, was not shown enough in the first volume to interest me enough to continue reading the comics. Nonetheless, a fun, fast read with a touch of humor and impending grand adventure.

Book 2 of WitchAThon

This is an owl crate book for the month of may. The theme of it was rebel with a cause. This book is very fitting for the theme and what is happening in the world currently.
