Jo Nesbø

It was an enjoyable read and the twists were quite smart. There were just a lot of little things that added up to me not being able to truly love it.

This was the first Jo Nesbø book for me and I have to say I wasn't wholly taken with this story. It was ok inasmuch as I read the whole book but it was not a book that I couldn't put down. Others say his stories are great so I will read another before I give up on the author.

This was awesome! I'm completely in love with the way that Jo Nesbo writes. This stand alone mystery novel had everything you expected and more. Cannot wait to read another Nesbo book.

good book weak ending

Wow. Another very intricately woven story by Nesbo. A bit slow at first, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
Plot or Character Driven: Character

The son gives us a character that is conflicted and has many flaws. Fans of the Harry Hole novels will appreciate the great pacing and plot of this story. It is nice that he was able to write this story in a way that he can't with Harry- we know just enough about this character to sometimes question whether we think he is good or bad.

Once again, Nesbo writes a novel so twisty and edge-of-your-seat, that it makes me sad I've read all his other books because I immediately want another one! Love this stand-alone thriller.

Not bad, but it felt like a Harry Hole novel without Harry Hole...

Up until he finds his father's diary, I was so into this despite the thinly veiled misogyny that lurks in the shadows. BUT then, when he finds out his father was actually not this moral king.....I'll tell you, I was gutted. I did love the pacing and the narrative switch between chapters. I would recommend as this would be a 4/5 BUT be prepared for the very shallow female characters :<
