adventurous dark mysterious sad medium-paced

The thing about Colleen Hoover's works is that once you read one book, you have basically read them all. Her books seem to have the same repeating themes: young Caucasian female MC is in an abusive relationship, and the kind-hearted "CoHo boy" comes along to rescue the MC out of her abusive relationship. I get the fact that CoHo's purpose with her books is to raise awareness for survivors of domestic violence, and her book It Ends With Us does the job with this. However, I have also noticed that it is a recurring plotline with most of, if not all of her books. Apparently, she also included problematic elements and themes in her other books, but I am out of the loop with this.

I do not have much to say about this book. I am not sure how this is a thriller book; if anything, it is more of a dark romance than a thriller. It is written too similarly to It Ends With Us. The only differences are the characters and their backgrounds. Sloan is Lily Bloom, Asa is Ryle Kincaid, Carter is Atlas Corrigan.

Someone mentioned this book was formerly published on Wattpad. I am not surprised, considering how terrible a lot of the romance books on that site are, and how many of them center on abusive and toxic relationships. A lot of books that have been published through the creators program are romance books that have similar themes to IEWU and Ice Breaker.

My first Colleen Hoover book and it was just okay— a quick and easy read. Nothing special. Typical dark romance novel.

Very good to start. But then....it just got weird? And I didnt understand why there were like 3 prologues?? Its an ok read. Colleen Hoover has way better books than this....

What a misogynistic story line. DNF 70pgs in
