And by finished I mean couldn’t finish it. Picked it up to see what the Hoover hoopla was and I don’t get it. Tried I really did but just didn’t like the characters, the writing nothing really. Maybe I picked a bad one but maybe she just isn’t my cup of tea. I’ll leave her to the millions that love her stuff.
3.5/5 ⭐️’s
It’s official, suspenseful romance is becoming a favorite genre of mine. What a ride this was! I was immediately hooked from the first page and found myself eagerly turning the pages to find out what happened next. You either love CoHo or you hate her, and I’m definitely a fan. Her writing is GREAT for pulling you out of a reading slump, or as a cleanser in between series. I absolutely despised ASA Jackson, he might even be my most hated character in a novel ever & I thought Colleen did a brilliant job at portraying a narcissist in him. I really enjoyed this story, however I have to admit I thought the ending left a lot to be desired. There was SO much climax/build up and it just fell totally flat for me. I also felt that some of the dialog was super cheesy & some of the scenes were incredibly unrealistic in a way that I just couldn’t get past. I enjoyed my time reading it, but I don’t see myself ever picking it up again

If there is one thing I can count on Colleen Hoover books for, it’s getting me out of a reading slump. Idk why her books are so easy to read but this is the THIRD time I’ve read this book by her and I loved it all the same. The first two times I read it were under the original publishing, and this version is the newest re-release.
This is such a good romantic suspense and it’s slowly become one of my favorite genres. It is not spicy at ALL, probably half a chili pepper lol, but there’s a lot of action and anxiety and anticipation that just keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. I don’t think I have ever hated a main character in a book as much as I hate Asa Jackson. I mean he is by far the definition of mentally ill. Give me the guy who runs after you even though he got hit by an 18 wheeler. I think the first two times I read this I gave it 5 stars, but now that I’ve opened myself up to other authors outside CoHo, some of the writing felt cheesy/cringey and some of the scenes almost felt like they should have been longer/more detailed. I also didn’t care for the ending as much as I remember, it felt unrealistic?
Overall, I still highly recommend this book if you need an action packed palette cleanser and something you can fly through!

Hmm… I don’t know what to rate it. Now that I’ve read more books, maybe I understand that her writing isn’t the best (there’s also this being one of her older books that got released again so
