A bit preachy, and it would have been a stronger novel if Brittle died at the end—but it was a captivating read none the less.

This is a strange novel.
It's a western, but all the characters are robots.
It's a sort of zombie novel, but everyone's a robot.
I really liked this. I started reading it after hearing the author on the podcast Doug Loves Movies. This had nothing to do with the review, it's just a fact.
The novel is about a future where robots have killed all humans and then basically destroyed the world. This is a very smart idea and I like how it really thought about how dangerous AI might be too mankind.
It's a really good story and it's very well written with interesting characters and a giant red white and blue robot named 'Murica.

I can't believe this is a sentence I'm typing (and meaning) but the narrator/protagonist of this book just wasn't believable as a robot. I love books about androids, AIs, and created beings, but this one never felt like anything except a book about humans made out of other materials. It was all right, but I kept hoping for an alchemy of plot or character that never came.

An hour and a half into this audiobook and the plot hadn't started yet. It was mainly an hour and a half of info dumping and incredibly repetitive descriptions, as if the author was padding out their word count like they were writing a college essay.

The only problem is Britt being a she. Never while reading i thought like that, she is written like a he. Otherwise, fantastic read.
