I really wanted to like this book. I loved the first one. But the miscommunication trope was horrible and constant. The amount of repeat situations and conversations?? There wasn’t growth it was just annoying. I skimmed through most of the book. I will probably read the next one just to get the damn solution but I’ll be skimming.

The whole time reading I was thinking…is this author a Mormon? The celibacy being a constant issue feels like she is.
Low and behold she is

I like the series and find the story really fun but the writing is a bit simplistic for me so I often consider whether to keep reading.  I'll for sure read the 3rd book when it comes out and really like the concept of the adelphia of sisterhood that adds something beyond the romance storyline.

I am SO frustrated with the FMC!!! Just get over yourself and stop self sabotaging and self doubting. It’s legit super annoying at this point. I thought there was a point t when she’d quit and had come to her senses. She then allowed a tiny thing she assumed cause her to go back inside her emotional and relational walls. FINALLY near the end she decided to let those around her help her and to trust them. We will see if she does it in book 3. I really hope so bc I almost quit this book and book 1 was one of my favorites.

I really enjoyed A Tribute of Fire, but I struggled a bit with this book. It felt like more of an uncomfortable bridge between books 1 and 2 than an enjoyable continuation.
Xander's  hot/cold attitude for the whole book was off-putting, and confusing. Lia's blind hatred was a bit excessive, and the fact that the  physical romance did not progress from book 1 wasn't the best.
I hope book 3 is better!
