DID NOT FINISH: 10%

Not a fan of the writing. Not something I want to come back to

Me llamaba muchísimo la atención, pero me ha costado acabarlo. Uff. Aunque la premisa es muy original, se me ha quedado corto y las protagonistas me han resultado un poco planas.

I could not find any flaws, it's just a fun story. Idk my standards are a bit everywhere.

I mean I had fun, I don't know if this was a ground breaking story but I had fun (then again I also have lots of fun watching pacific rim and transformers so maybe I just like big robots going boom).

absolutely insane. i am floored and so happy that there is more to consume by zoe. first 5star read of the year and really set the bar high.

unsure how u can make mecha x dystopian novel full of body and colour. i especially love the time and care that went into crafting sona and eris. the multi dimensional characters made for such a spectacular reading experience. i cannot get over the prose 😭😱 so angsty and bloody but the teenage cringe adds to the ambiance

[read for my book club, Prose and Cons]

Oh, how I struggled to get my bearings with this book and never truly succeeded.

That said, this had a lot of good to it. A lot of the reason I felt so confused is because the narrators' voices on the audiobook both sounded extremely similar, to the point where, if I got even momentarily distracted, I would often forget whose chapter I was on. I know if I ever heard these narrators again out of context of this book (and probably even in the book's context) I would not be able to tell you which one narrated for which character in this book.

And while much of that indistinction between the two leads comes down to the narration, a good amount of it does come down to the writing. Even though their actual dialogue is pretty distinct, their inner thoughts and the way they view the world really aren't.

The general vibe of the book felt pretty paint-by-numbers as well, and Eris specifically has some pretty cringey dialogue. I did enjoy some of the character moments and the romance, but beyond that this just wasn't for me.
