I’ve been venturing into the world of cozy mysteries and this one seemed interesting to me because it features the owner of a bookshop who starts a breast cancer survivor book club in a small town. Endearing premise with a variety of interesting characters. It was alright, but the writing felt kind of bland to me. I agree with many reviewers that the romantic relationships felt forced and the mention of Rarity’s pool far exceeded what was necessary. I’m not sure if it was the writing or the audio narrator but it was hard for me to figure out how old Rarity actually was between the cadence of her voice and the way she phrased her sentences. I wish the author had added more depth to the main character as I didn’t get a strong sense of personality or motivation.

I listened to this one while working and found it really easy to follow along with the story.
