I love this mystery! The main character is very likable, the characters are well-developed, and the plot has some toys that were really fun and surprising!

This book is an ode to all the great children's books, and mentions many by name. The Chronicles of Narnia, Inkheart, The Westing Game. Magical books, children with neglectful parents or nasty relatives caring for them, mysterious portraits, magic. It's also CREEPY AF. I'm a big baby but I think this would scare the heck out of my 10 year old. Really enjoyed the audiobook, read via Hoopla from the library.
