If you like Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, you will probably find this a very deep work of art. Otherwise this is just a very sentimental advertisement for French tourism. Based on the average score of 4+ stars I expected much more.
The starting point of the book is juicy and the base of the story is beautiful. The story itself would have enabled much greater discussion of the big questions of life. Instead, everything is just covered with supposedly deep quotes and the obvious facts of human life, which are presented as great insights.
Here and there book falls into naivety - for example, according to this book, in social studies classes students should study gardening, and medicine is concidered a bad thing and should be replaced with meditation and herbs. To top it all off, the female characters in the book are portrayed in a quite a misogynistic way. I don't recommend the book, but since I managed to finish reading it, I give it one star.
