This was such a fun book to read! Full of great humor with wonderful characters. Sophy has to be one of my favorite characters ever written. She just wants to help people, but her methods are quite unconventional and very amusing.
Much easier to read than most Georgette Heyer books since the dialogue is easiest to understand, and this one has lots of dialogue and not as many regency era descriptions. A great Heyer novel to start with.
So clever and funny. Loved it!

I really enjoy the managing/competent female trope who sets everything to rights with her meddling. Sophy is a stellar example of this as she puts her cousin's household to rights - nursing sick children, comforting anxious aunts, sorting out romances, and more. The book is light and easy to read, and while the romances are generally believable, don't come into this book expecting a great passionate one. This is a classic Georgette Heyer, though take note that there are some outdated/antisemitic tropes that I usually skip over whenever I reread.

This book was so hilarious, I laughed out loud quite a bit.
Also, it has some antisemitic and sexist passages typical of the culture and time period that readers should be aware of.
Likes: Sophy is the best, I love her. She's so funny and smart. She's a very fun character to read about. I needed a shift in genre to get me out of a book slump and this did the job admirably. The secondary characters were also enjoyable and well developed.
Dislikes: The plot would have been a lot more interesting if any of the antagonists had redeeming qualities but perhaps not as satisfying when they received their comeuppance.

Really enjoyed it until the ridiculous ending made all the characters into idiots and broke my suspension of disbelief.
Another book I happened to re-read because it was by Georgette Heyer and it was available through my library's e-loans. Most enjoyable. I just love Georgette H. and I wish they had more.
I have no excuse for taking so long to finish this - I really enjoyed it! Lots of fun, witty, sweet, all around a pleasant little read!
Adored this book, but docked a star for the horrible (though sadly probably period-accurate) anti-semitism in the middle.
This was my first Heyer novel and man it was so entertaining! I loved it! I ended the book laughing. I adored Sophy and Charles.
It ends a little abrupt and I did wish there was a little more of their thoughts and a little more closure. But other than that it was perfect. What a hilarious book.
