Reading this book, I found myself exclaiming, “Yes!” aloud several times. The author does such an amazing job really digging into the everyday racism Black people face, and all the infuriating aspects of it. It was so satisfying and cathartic to see thoughts and grievances I’ve had laid out on the page.
My only complaint is that the book feels a bit scattered, as it starts off as more of a societal critique, but veers into a heavy religious critique in the second half without circling back. That’s quite minor though as book was an excellent read through and through.

Much easier to track and more practical than Coates or Kendi. Start here.

Loved the honesty and sharing. Taught me a lot and reinforced other anti racist books I've read.

If you are white, put down your defenses and read this. Listen. Hear her. Hopefully it is uncomfortable. Best if it makes you think, and then act as an ally.
