Finally... after reading several books in a row that were not-so-enjoyable, this was a great, light, beachy read- just what I needed. Pekkanen is a favorite, and this one didn't disappoint. The characters were believable, the story was interesting and compelling (and even sort of suspenseful) and the ending was what I had hoped for. All in all, I would recommend for my friends who like lighter, beachy reads or Pekkanen's other novels.

It was okay! I wish the chapters had been named so it could’ve been easier to keep track of the characters because there are so many!

I liked this book. Premise is a less raunchy Desperate Housewives - everyone looks like they have their lives together, but behind the scenes there are LOTS of secrets to discover.

I found the characters in this book a little less relateable than in Pekkanen's others books. Mostly one couple (Tessa and Harry). Although the author seems to justify their cold, odd personas through the difficulty child rearing and a trauma (that I won't spoil) in their past, I still didn't find them redeemable. The other characters, well flawed, were still likeable. The perfect happy endings that characterizes Pekkanen's novels also felt a little forced here.

The setting: An idyllic neighborhood in Nowhere, USA, with an email listserv (instead of a Facebook group) and a few families who you learn about in depth. Susan is a recently divorced, bitter woman whose husband left her for her friend. Gigi is married to a promising politician and is struggling with her older daughter. Kellie recently went back to work after having two kids to find herself again. And the new neighbors Tessa and Harry moved to the neighborhood after a tragedy at their old neighborhood.

At first I thought this was going to be a whodunit. And then you realize that it's a smaller (and larger) story than that. It's the average lives of everyone you know. There's no psycho killer. There are just people who made small and big mistakes, just like everyone.

I enjoyed reading the commentary from the listserv. It was realistic and funny.

The audiobook narrator did some voices in a strange way. I can see trying to make your voice deeper when you're doing a man's voice. But especially at the beginning with the character of Tessa, the narrator would sound like a robot when she did Tessa's voice.

First, I received The Perfect Neighbors from Netgalley.com, in exchange for an honest review.
Somehow, I missed Sarah Pekkanen's last book, Things You Won't Say (ordering right now!). How I have missed her style of writing! There isn't a thing I did not like about this book. The character development was great, and it made you feel like you wanted to be right there in the neighborhood with the characters. I found myself wanting to hang out with Susan, Gigi, Tessa, and Kellie. No spoilers in this review, pre-order this book now!!

Sarah Pekkanen has another bestseller on her hands!

Thank you netgalley.com for the ARC, this is another wonderful book by Sarah!!!

Love this author!
Newport Cove is one of the safest neighborhoods in the U.S., but that doesn't mean it's safe from secrets and drama! Susan, Kellie, Gigi, and new comer Tessa all have secrets, but one secret could really shake up the neighborhood. Could shatter their safe little bubble.
I loved the storyline of each of the four women and it really does make you wonder ... how well do you really know your neighbors?
The audio version was a really enjoyable listen.

A bit of fun fluff, akin to Liane Moriarty books. Although I did have a problem with the couple getting away with the murder/accident, regardless how justified it was. I think it will always haunt them and they will never have total peace regarding it.
