The novella itself was good. I really enjoyed the first two stories. This last one was ok, didn’t think too much happened and was expecting the main character to be the child at the end since they had so much worked up with him but nope. Just a random story.

I think it was only bad because all the other different seasons stories were so much better

Boring, disjointed, and edgy for the sake of it, this book wears its origin as a rushed horror tale to appeal to a publisher on its sleeve, and it simply does not work for me.
Audio. Read by the incomparable Frank Muller. It was good- I think I listened to it somewhat out of context, not realizing it was part of a bigger picture. I almost think that the horror element of this was overstated- like he had to make it a horror story instead of just a hauntingly sad story of a woman trying her best to see her pregnancy through. I liked it, though.

Library auto-checkout, and I must have actually read this way back when it appeared in "Different Seasons" - I remember reading others from that collection, but this was as if it were brand new for me. A nice little novella(?) and it happily whiled away two days of commuting.
