A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller With Heart!!
I really enjoyed this series, although emotionally it was draining. I became so invested in these resilient characters that my emotions were all over the place. I felt horrified, heartbroken, scared, inspired, frustrated, angry and heartwarming at what they went through and who they became. They were courageous and wouldn’t give up on their home and their family and found family.
I’m sad and glad it’s over. I’m glad because personally I don’t think I could handle anymore aching sadness or total panic. But I’m sad to say goodbye to my friends…these amazing and special characters. This was a wonderfully vivid post-apocalyptic thriller, along with inspiring acts of kindness, heroism and love! I highly recommend this lushly crafted story and would recommend not missing out on it!

A satisfactory wrap up of this series. Once again, it kept you on the edge of your seat as the final battle for Fall Creek raged.
The last two books I had two skim entirely and basically look up a book review because I couldn't read these anymore. I hate not finishing a series because I like to know what happens but this was just so difficult to even enjoy reading. The the book idea was a good one but the storytelling was just horrible. This series should have been three to four books and it needed to be edited to get rid of the unnecessary babbling. This whole series just felt like the author had all these ideas and threw them all in the paper and never did a reread. I will not be reading anything else from this author.

📚 2024 #67: “Edge of Valor” by Kyla Stone
📕 This book is seventh and final book in the "Edge of Collapse" series. The General is planning his attack on Fall Creek, but is determined to get his great-granddaughter out before laying waste to the city. He proposes an exchange: hand over Liam for the safety of Fall Creek. The townspeople have 24 hours to decide their fate and his before hell is unleashed upon everyone.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5/5: Unfortunately, this was my least favorite book in the series. It was generally pretty clear early on how things were going to shake out with the various characters. I expected a little more out of the final showdown with the big, bad guy and it felt anticlimactic. It might have had more punch if the series was kept at five books and filled with more action throughout. This is nit-picky, but the author has a few phrases she loves to use and I got a little tired of hearing the same descriptions and similes throughout these books. The series overall was a solid 4-4.5 out of 5 though and I'd still recommend it!
🤓 You should read this if you're looking for a good apocalyptic thriller series that isn't sci-fi or filled with zombies or disease lol.

The end of it all...
This last book in the series (except for a tiny little digital epilogue) wraps up the story. But all the way through you are on the edge of your seat not knowing for sure if your favourites will make it.
War is hell and the residents of Fall River have been through the wringer - they deserve some happiness but it will come at a cost.
5 stars for characters! The bad guys are a little cartoonish but that's fine - I didn't like them anyway.
