I love Veronica and Stoker, and they are definitely the driving force in continuing this series! I just wanted a little more of their banter in this book, which is what dropped this from a five star.

So happy that Stoker and Veronica have each other.

This is one of the strongest of the series! Funny & a creative, interesting mystery plus the more intentional expansion of the scooby gang & the delightful partnership of Veronica and Stoker. Fabulous from beginning to end!

Another excellent Veronica Speedwell mystery! These books are cozy without being low stakes, mysterious without being scary, and sweet but not TOO sweet. Deanna Raybourn has the best tone, Veronica and Stoker are my favorite pair in a series like this, and the side characters and backstory that have been built up to this point are still totally perfect.

This mystery includes a corpse made to look like a wax likeness, a tiny train ride, an affectionate monkey, a rambunctious little girl, and a fairly large nod to Frankenstein. It also has a gorgeous profession of devotion, and a domestic little scene in the follies at Lord Rosemorran’s collection. In short, it has everything you could want.

I thought this was one of the better Veronica Speedwell novels we've gotten in a while. I loved the humor in the book and was glad that that some of the will they / won't they drama from the previous books has gone away.

The mystery was a bit odd, I wasn't really sure what exactly they were trying to solve by the 2/3 point in the book, and the ending felt a bit too neat and tidied up, but I enjoyed the book and was engaged the whole time
