I was a bit surprised to see that this author was male. Until now I always had the impression that male authors were a little less elaborate in the feelings department. So my prejudices are shot to pieces in a good way. I quiet enjoyed the writing style.
Even with the personal struggles of the MC's this was a rather upbeat slow burn romance (heavy on the slow) with a bit of suspense. Personally I would have liked a bit more of the suspense part, because it seemed really interesting and Fox and Jonah really made a good team in and out of the job.

The first of the Stonewall spin offs.
This was okay, but had no real weight to the threat portion of the book, unlike the original series.
There was a tiny thread right at the end of the book which could be a jumping off point for more, and I will definitely read the others as I like the author and series as a whole, but I was definitely underwhelmed here.
That said, I really like Jonah's journey in this, and Greg's VAing was, as ever, wonderful to hear.

Jonah Brightly used to be a police officer. Until he got shot in the head. Now, he has a girlfriend who doesn't seem to care about him and a waning libido. Thank goodness he has an interview with Stonewall Investigations to look forward to.
Gabriel "Fox" Morrison is looking forward to getting the Miami branch of Stonewall investigations set up. He is ready to get the new drug, Dragon, off the streets. Whoever is making it seems to be targeting the gay community and there are people dying. Fox's people. He hopes that today's interview will help bring in some new blood. He's not expecting the new recruit to be so hot.
On his side, Jonah is also interested in Fox, which confuses him. He's straight, isn't he?
Seeing as this is a romance and Fox and Jonah are the main characters, Jonah's probably going to answer that question in the negative.
This is a lot of bang and sparkle in the relationship building throughout the book without a ton of depth. It was a nice start to the new Stonewall series but both the mystery and the relationship got a bit of a short shrift.

The slowest plot ever. I wouldn't call this a detective-crime-action book. Just an eternal internal-external dialogue between 2 characters. A romance - coming of (late) age book.
