Re-read after years and it still holds up as an easy to read fast-paced brilliant story.

It's not the worst book I've ever read, but it's a long way from the best.

I think I'm supposed to feel some kind of sympathy for these spoilt rich girls, but I really don't. The writing is not bad (after all, I did keep reading), though it comes across very much as a soap opera in book form (and I'm not fond of those). I also didn't like that it was clearly written with sequels in mind, and so not very much is resolved here - pretty much all the text is setting you up with the characters and their situations. I also didn't like that, for such an important character, we're not really shown much of Alison, and what we do experience of her makes me wonder why the girls were even friends in the first place.

I bought this book on a whim, because I'd heard a lot about it recently, but I don't think I'll be bothering with any of the others.

what is with the need to constantly describe what the characters look like after we've been told once AND the designer of each item of clothing they wear my god

why doesn't spencer's family think "hmm maybe the one in the wrong here is wren, the grown ass adult who pursued spencer who is only 16 and she shouldn't be blamed because she is a CHILD" like. i'm hoping the books will handle the fucking pedophilia better than the show, aka not romanticizing it and having those people end up together but who knows!

Having watched the series before reading the books, these are things I noticed that are different in, more or less the same order they are learned in the book.

1. Spencer is blonde.
2. Melissa is blonde.
3. Alison hypnotized them in the barn the night she disappeared.
4. Three years between Alison disappearing and current events.
5. Emily’s has a younger sister, older sister and brother
6. Emily has reddish blonde hair
7. Ezra is blonde haired, blue eyed.
8. When Aria met Ezra in the bar she got drunk on scotch
9. Hannah has deep brown hair.
10. Veronica isn’t a lawyer. She works with horses.
11. Wren Kingston? Nope. Wren Kim and he’s half Korean.
12. Mona is blonde

Side note.

Tiktok, Squid game, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Adele. Seems like the book had some edits done to make it more current time.

My daughter loved this series, so I was curious. It's actually pretty good! I enjoyed the twists and turns- and also the excellent voice acting.

After finishing all seven seasons of the TV series, I just had to start to read the books. They are very different from the TV show which I did like. I found it interesting that each chapter was from a different girls perspective and all of the stories at one point or another co-inside with each other. The characters are very different in the show and in the book but I like the element of surprise that you get in both versions.

the blueprint!!!!
