Turns out I had this in an omnibus edition of Dr. Seuss (Six By Seuss) that I had bought way back when I worked at Borders. (Side thought: I wonder how much it's going for now.
I had no idea this was the first Dr. Seuss book, so after I found that out I decided to sit down and read it.
The story tells of a child who walks home from school and tells his father everything he "sees." His father calls them lies, but we see that the son has a massive imagination. I felt kind of sad for him at the end because had his this huge story thought up, and with one look from his dad it withered away and all he told him was he saw a buggy on Mulberry Street.
The rejection and sternness of his dad made me feel so bad for him!

What does Marco see on his walk home from school? Well there is what he actually sees on Mulberry street and what it becomes in his mind's eye. A good book about imagination and where it can take you.
Para ser el primer libro de Dr. Seuss está muy bien cómo expresa el funcionamiento de la imaginación sin limites del protagonista.
Legend has it that Geisel wrote this on board a steam ship and the rhythm was inspired by the engine.
I suppose we can attribute the rest of his signature rhythm and scansion to a steam ship. Haha
This book would make an excellent introduction to a middle grade class of students about to write their own tall tales.
