I received an ARC of this book from a Goodreads giveaway. I previously read and loved The Mother in Law by the same author so I was excited to get this book. But I just couldn’t get past the first couple of chapters. Neither one of the main characters is likeable and I can’t seem to root for anyone. So unfortunately it is a DNF for me

Fern and Rose are fraternal twin sisters who share a complicated childhood. Fern relies on Rose often, and the relationship, like any sister relationship, is nuanced and changes based on who is telling. Not everything s at it seems. The story switches from Fern’s narration to Rose’s diary entries, and it’s clear that somethings amiss— it’s all about perspective. Both of the sisters are hiding a horrible secret… but who is really telling the truth? What I liked most about this book was its realistic portrayal of a convoluted sister relationship. It’s true — you hate your sister with your guts but love her to pieces, and it’s most definitely at the same time. This sister story with suspense and secrets made for an exciting thriller that I read within hours. I enjoyed it and loved how much we learned about the main protagonist. My only gripe is I wish the ending hadn’t been so easily and quickly tied up. It seems almost too perfect.. i would’ve loved some more tension or shocking reveals that left me reeling. Overall though, a fast paced and interesting read!

On its surface and enjoyable book with twists and turns, but as my second Sally Hepworth book I felt like some of the tropes were repeated. I would be willing to give her another go, but feel like the twists are easier to spot after reading one of her books.
