This was a great, quick thriller. About 2/3 through I started to predict the twist, but it was far more insane than I thought it would be! Makes me want a sequel!

If synopsis and blurb writers could stop putting
"unreliable narrator"
or
"ambiguous ending"
or
anything to imply a story isn't clear
directly on the book or ebook, I'd be delighted. I really enjoyed the process of getting to know Rose and Fern, watching the cracks in their relationships form, and uncovering the twist, although as mentioned, it was very much spoiled for me. It was still very enjoyable, and this is a very digestible read!

For anyone neurodivergent - the beginning scenes, getting to know Fern, can be hard to get through.
She has a lot of internalized ableism and doesn't trust herself to do damn near anything, and the tone used to write for her is damn near infantile. This lessons as the book goes on, but the ableism later comes from an external source.
For me, it was worth it to power through, but it was frustrating, so take care of yourself.

I really enjoyed the book and the twists kept coming.

Having listening to it on audiobook, I felt like the experience was amplified. 28 year old twins Rose and Fern are polar opposites. Fern has a sensory processing disorder, works at the library and enjoys her job. She also had a routine that she follows to a T and is not a huge fan of change. When she discovers her sister is unable to have a baby, she throws all to the wing and is determined to make her dreams come true. When the truth of a hidden past comes to the surface, everything changes in Fern’s world as she knows it.
Sally Hepworth had my attention the WHOLE time and hooked me from the beginning. This slow-burn thriller was just that. Enthralling, mysterious and so well done. I wish I would’ve picked this up sooner. 4.5/5
