Incredible story. Makos does a phenomenal job telling the story. Excited for the film to come out even more now.

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. The bond between brothers in service is something that I have never experienced first hand, but I have seen first hand. It spans all generations and all conflicts. The bond these guys had with each other and what they went through in their personal lives and their lives together is remarkable. I love Adam Makos, and truly hope that he writes many more books and shares many more stories of bonds like this.

This is the second book I have read by this author and neither of the books have disappointed! A captivating story which sheds some light, through various separate storylines, into our “forgotten war”. It is very apparent that an incredible amount of time, energy and heart went into this book.
As a huge fan of Aviation history, I love the detail about the different aircraft used at the time. For any language not commonly used in civilian life, the author did an excellent job explaining the meaning of language used, technology present at the time and also historical tidbits throughout. The pictures were also nice to see and helpful in creating an idea of the people and the places that were discussed throughout.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the creation this book

Such a beautiful book!! This book brought through so much emotion. Adam Makos did an EXCELLENT job developing the pilots and marines, the banter, and the camaraderie between them! There were moments where I felt the freezing temperatures. I even heard and felt the chaos around me as I read moments or turmoil for the Marines. I thoroughly felt as though I was there in the moment and I personally knew these people. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read this outstanding story and about the heroic gestures of these heroes. I am proud to work in Naval aviation! Thank you Adam for sharing this amazing story with us and for putting your entire heart into it!

Very readable and well researched book. Because the author talked to those who were there and even went to visit many of the locations himself, it reads like a biography or memoir more than a “history”. I learned a lot about these men and the “forgotten war” they fought and also gives some glimpse as to what is still going on over there. The author makes you feel present and almost able to feel what it may have been like (though this is impossible really).
