This book was a breath of fresh air.  I must admit when I first read a few chapters I thought I wouldn’t like it,  but I love how each character had their own individual story which developed and the growth that these three ladies accomplished.

Fairly enjoyable reading, but the entire time I was thinking “isn’t this just being someone’s personal assistant?” and “the biggest part of the mental load is communicating to someone else what needs to be done” which really ripped me out of the story. I felt like there was way too much emphasis on “this is revolutionary!!!!1!” when it isn’t, and I would have enjoyed more depth in the characters instead. Also, there is no way ANYONE besides a licensed therapist should be giving PAID MARRIAGE ADVICE over an app.

I really enjoyed this book — the premise was fun & novel: three divorced friends decide to create an app that pays for all of the tasks wives do for free. Each chapter is written from the POV of one of the three women, and I definitely had a favorite (Madeline). The Wife App ends up being wildly successful, and I think it emphasizes a lot of the under-appreciated little jobs (“mental load”) that spouses do every day. There was nothing suspenseful about the book, but I felt I couldn’t put it down because I was having so much fun reading it.

I finished this book in 2 days and did have a hard time putting it down. That being said, it still didn’t blow me away enough to give it more than 3 stars. The premise was great and I related to the characters in more ways than one. Throughout the book though there were some plot holes, unrealistic twists for the characters and some flimsy dialogue. If you can remove yourself from some of the “really??” moments, it was a quick, fun and humorous read that screams summer beach read. Thanks Simon and Schuster for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
