Empowering and joyful and not as cheesy as I expected. A fun little beach read.
Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book started out strong but the plot started to lose steam for me as a reader. I had a feeling this book would be close to a four star read because it had humor and seemed to fit in the same vein as "Finlay Donovan". The story started to feel a bit boring after the first quarter. I'm not sure if I was expecting more to the plot so ultimately, the book left me wanting more.
Overall, an easy beach read that will give you a couple of chuckles especially if you're a mom/divorced/early 40s.

This was an enjoyable read. I liked following the three woman as they build an app where people can make money for taking on the mental load often carried by wives. I liked seeing how each woman progressed both in their personal lives and as it relates to the app. Definitely an interesting story (3.5/3.75)
3.5 estrellas. Está ligerito y muy divertido, la premisa se me hizo muy buena y sólo le faltó algo de sustancia, algún conflicto más fuerte porque en general está muy upbeat.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC. I loved the idea of the book, but I actually didn’t like the book at all. I wanted to put it down at 50%, but I’m no quitter. Going into it I thought, “YES! Working moms and wives, this is it. This is for us. Stick it to the man!” (not all husbands are bad, so don’t come for me)
The synopsis talks about 3 working moms who create a Wife App to get back at their ex-husbands and get paid for taking on so much of the mental load of raising kids. This screamed feminism. Awesome! The book even starts out with a quote from Sylvia Federici! As a working wife and mother I wanted this to be relatable because a lot of men truly don’t understand the work load of being a working mom. In the beginning it’s all very much about the moms and the mental load. However, the app had been created and “anyone can join the Wife App. Female or male.” Booooooo!

After their own failed marriages, three best friends decide to create an app that will take the mental load off of wives. The Wife App is a place where people can hire a "wife" to do tasks that are often left to wives to take care of - whether its creating a packing list, scheduling doctors appointments, or anything in between, The Wife App can help with that. While this idea starts as a bit of a revenge joke between Lauren, Madeline, and Sophie quickly turns into a popular and fast growing start up. But while the app is growing, their personal lives also get interesting as well.
I flew through this book in one sitting by the pool. This is a unique idea to make marriages and partnerships more equal and help balance the heavy mental load women often take on. I loved the idea behind the app and each of the women's unique storylines. The character development was amazing, the girl power vibes were incredible and overall the story was fun! I look forward to reading more from Carolyn Mackler.
Thanks to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for the advance copy.

What an interesting concept! Wives getting paid for the things that automatically become their duties in a marriage, like making doctors appointments and baking cookies for the PTA.
This was a super cute and fun read. The story is told through the eyes of three best friends who are navigating life after divorce. None of them are perfect, but they are doing the best they can with their given situations.

Easy read but all over the place. A lot of narratives that felt forced, in-your-face and unnatural.
