The Wife App

It's an interesting concept that they came up with an app. The wife app lets you put up tasks that will drain you mentally and have someone else do it for you.

I really like the three founders. I liked watching their lives play out while they are figuring out this app. It does take off pretty well at first but there are bumps along the way and they have to figure out how to navigate and make their app even better.

I'm glad I read it but it's not a book that will stay with me.

This was such a unique premise for a book. That drew me to it instantly. Unfortunately, the execution was a bit lacking. The characters felt under developed. Overall, there was a choppiness to the story that keep it from being amazing.

Really interesting premise, and great explanations of emotional labor. With the emphasis on dramatic life shifts and the invisible load women carry, this book could have been dark, but the humor balances it out really well.

I was really invested in this app and these characters. Unfortunately the end went off the rails a little, with the resolution of quite a few plot points feeling sudden and unearned.

The beginning felt like I was in Sex in the City.
I really liked the premise behind the app and dealing with Mental Load. The second half did redeem the book.

What a great premise!  Three friends developing an app to parse out the mental load often expected (and taken for granted) from wives and mothers. I loved the female friendships. I had some trouble with the characters. Sophie grated on my nerves for the first 2/3rds of the book. I liked her ending - and I do think it was supported in the text (though many reviewers disagree). She was very likable when she had some self respect. Madeline was interesting but I really didn’t  appreciate or relate to her flippant and crass sexual viewpoints. I most easily connected to Lauren. Even with a few annoyances this was a fun and compelling read.

I loved this! I loved the characters and the concept. Women supporting women. I would love to use the wife app.
