It’s really difficult to rate this book. There are some things about this novel, the writing, the complexity of the characters, the page turning story that would lead me to a five star review. But this was a despicable - one (maybe two) star story. Grown men that act like chicken, a mother who doesn’t believe her child. It was gross.

Do any of these characters even like each other?
the fact that a man sexual assault his best friends teen daughter and then the girls mother immediately says she is lying? And absolutely no consequences? Only reason it’s not a 1 star is because Anna’s part was well done. And her father standing up for against his best friend and giving her a voice when asked? I did think that was well done. Claire and Retsy dismissal of Anna because they didn’t want their lives to change was disgusting
