Love a good sports read
Fun sports book! I like the hero and the storyline. Good, quick read. Would definitely read more from the author and recommend to others

Awesome hockey romance
I love that both characters play, it makes an interesting dynamic. Good story. Would reccomend to sports and contemporary fans. But dammit i want to know what his tattoos are.

I really wanted to like this book but it really fell short and fed into a lot of cliches. First off, Charlie is considered an ice queen but there wasn't anything about her that made me think that. When it is mentioned multiple times in about 50% of the book it suddenly becomes this giant thing that defines who she is. I was, honestly, confused as to why it became such a big thing. Duke is charismatic and seems pretty happy-go-lucky but, for me, there was no indication that he wanted to resign until Charlie mentioned it. Sure, he had off games and some bad stats but that didn't make me think he wanted to leave the NHL. I think that makes him a bad teammate to just play subpar just because he fell out of love with hockey.
When Charlie's trashed article that her boss steals gets posted the way that Duke forgives her in two weeks' time? She literally slandered him and Gwen, his publicist for having a "relationship". This book felt like a complete 180 halfway through in terms of character development. I do like the writing style that this author has so I am continuing the series. I hope that this series gets better as books go along.

This is my first book by Maria Luis and boy I am not disappointed. Everything about this book, I loved and will definitely move on to finish the series. I listened to this during my 4:30 hour drive back from NC and was slightly upset that there was more book left when I got home. So I stayed in the car with the engine running for the last hour.
Great job, Mrs. Luis.
Great job, Mrs. Luis.
This book was overall fine, but it definitely wasn't my favorite of Maria Luis'.
The pros:
It's hilarious. There are a few lines in here that actually had me laughing out loud rather than just a small giggle.
It's about hockey, but it's not a key factor in the book. There are moments throughout the book where she talks about the sport and the fact that the MMC is a hockey player, but she doesn't overdo it with bad puns or bringing the sport into the story where it isn't needed.
The cons:
What I've loved about Maria's other books is that the conflict between the two main characters is an outside issue rather than an issue of deception from one of the love interests. In this book, however, she has the FMC write a trashy tabloid about her famous love interest, and it's released by a third party despite having been thrown in the trash. It felt like a very safe way to push conflict into the book, and I missed the "power couple working together to fight the issue" vibe of her other books.
This didn't feel like an actual full fledged story to me. It felt more like a novella, which is fine! But going into it I expected more content than what I was given.
Unlike the the Put a Ring On It Series she wrote, this one isn't a given for me to keep reading. I may give the second book a chance, but at this point it's not a must read like the other set was.

I really enjoyed this book and thought the story was very well written. Charlie and duke are lovely and i very much so enjoyed their story. I loved the plot and absolutely loved the ending. Charlie and duke both deserved to be happy after all the stuff they’ve both been through and I’m glad they found it with each other. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

This was my first Maria Luis book but after hearing about it on BookTok, thought I would give it a shot. Although it was a short read, it was difficult to follow in the beginning. At some point, maybe 30%, it was able to keep my attention and I finished. Since it was so short, I feel like there was much to be desired because the Epilogue covered SO MUCH. Like, Maria, you could have elaborated and built upon all of that within the book!
