The narration was fine. The voices definitely exuded the proper emotion during the story.
This story itself was not that good, IMO. I felt like the drama was forced, the relationship between the 2 MCs wasn't organic, it also felt forced, and the "resolution" didn't feel complete; almost like it was written one way & changed at the last minute.
Our hockey hero is wanting to retire, has been dragged through the media, and is just an overall grump.
Our reporter heroine is working for a struggling media company, her stories aren't gaining traction, and is pressured to write gossip crap.
Charlie is tasked with writing a gossip column on Duke, but as she got to know Duke, she didn't feel right about writing a dirty story. So she ends up writing the story that feels good to her. She submits the better story to her editor but he ends up digging in her computer Trash & publishes the gossipy one.
Of course this is where the 2nd bout of drama ensues. She has to grovel to make Duke believe that she wouldn't do that. I don't understand - if you love someone, how do you just so easily believe the worst about them? That is what's hard for me on this one.
Duke is perceived to have no issues except being guarded & grumpy. This whole book portrays Charlie in the worst way possible. I wish there was a more mutual miscommunication versus him just believing the worst in her.
Why did Charlie throw away a doc in the trash & leave it there? Why write it at all? Dumb. Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Also - during like the last chapter there is a line
"Id do anything to have you in my line of path"
This sentence is not right. I think she means "Id do anything to cross your path" meaning just to keep the female in his orbit, in his life, etc. But I had to pause this entire audio book to wrap my mind around the sentence. It truly blocked my listening flow.
All around a very hard book to complete.
If it weren't for the fact that I wasted a HOOPLA monthly borrow on this, I probably woulda DNF it.

Not bad but I wouldn’t read/ listen again. It felt like there was a lot missing from the plot and character development.
Im hoping the next book in the series will be better.

I didn’t realize how short it was when I downloaded it - felt more like a novella, moved a little too unrealistically fast.
