Such a good spin on the original story I loved it! Darcy felt a little out of character at the beginning being so affectionate but by the end I was really enjoying it

SUCH A GOOD BOOK!! Finished it in a day. I could not put it down. Reads like the best Jane Austen fanfiction you have ever read. The author does so well by the characters in by the language and style of the book. I now consider this Canon in even if is a what if story. You will not regret this book. It has now become my number one Jane Austen retelling. And I have read MANY. There are some beautiful romantic scenes that are not smut but still make you blush. The plot is so well thought out and so likely to be true if this was a real story. I cannot recommend enough.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It feels very much like a well-written fanfiction, especially with the occasional modern turns of phrase that slip in, but it does a remarkable job of capturing voice and prose style of the original.

Things I liked:
— Simp Darcy
— The scene where he tells Elizabeth that he will speak to her father about Lydia and she realizes that there is finally someone in her life that she can depend on
— The one really chaotic dinner scene where everyone is being ridiculous but Darcy and Elizabeth are smiling to each other across the table
— It was cute and grounded in the era

Things I didn’t like:
— Simp Darcy (listen…… I love it but sometimes it felt like too much. He is very shy and reserved and even though he did genuinely think he loved her, I feel like he would still take a little longer to show his affection with PDA
— I thought Lizzy would be much angrier going into the engagement but she was shockingly calm and rational. Not a bad thing necessarily and more a comment about my own expectations going into the book, but considering the depth of her distaste for him leading up to his botched proposal………… I don’t know.
— The timeline was a little slow. I would’ve loved to see more after the wedding. Again, my own incorrect expectations here, but I thought the wedding would happen quickly and the aftermath would be them trying to live together and fall in love. But the story was fully about their engagement.

Overall it was enjoyable. I could see myself rereading this at some point when my Lizzy/Darcy mood strikes again

ETA 11/24 — I did, in fact, reread it. Pretty much same opinion as before, though it did help to know this time that it would only be the engagement since I remembered that from last time.
