Everything you could ever want out of a slow-burn regency novel!! (Except personally I would have preferred more than kisses 😉).
The more fully developed character progressions in Lizzy and Darcy during their courtship/engagement were beautiful to witness!
And the Audible Narration was AMAZING. Beautifully talented narrator made me fall in love with both Lizzy and Darcy more!

This is my favorite P&P piece of adaptation, and has to be one of my favorite romances ever. I'm gutted that the author doesn't have any other novels out now, but I'm slowly making my way through her shorter fictions available on her blog.
This plays on two of my favorite thing: Elizabeth and Darcy relationship, and the "what if?" trope. Thos novel takes a different turn almost halfway through the events as an asnwer to the question of what if Elizabeth had accepted Darcy's first proposal? His propsal was filled with love for her yet pride and disdain for her famaily and situation. Elizabeth here is more calculating and rational than the one Austen writes and she asks him for some time to consider his offer, while also letting him know that as of the time he asked for her hand in marriage, she doesn't love him.
This is a question of love and marriage with unequal affections, the same thing Darcy warned Bingley of. Would Darcy be able to endure that? Would Elizabeth's mind change the same way about him? I loved the way the author wrote the internal struggles of the two of them, I liked her version of saving Lydia, I won't deny that I wanted to see more "after the events" of the book.
The author wrote them so delicately, staying true to their soul and also ypdating them, and also making use cleverly of some of the original lines.

Some of Darcy's possessiveness in this book was a turn off-- saying things like 'don't forget who owns you' -- I feel like the Lizzy Bennett I know would've had words.

This book is so comforting, it feels like such a natural extension of the source material. Love seeing more and clearer character growth from them both. :)
