Oh so good!

I literally could not put this book down and read it all in one sitting. Such bliss to be immersed once more within the Abbot-Fritz family. I absolutely loved Landon and Elle’s story. Such heartache, grief, loss and deception, but also so much chemistry, courage, love and acceptance. I feel quite bereft to have finished and can’t wait for Luca’s story next.

“My heart hadn’t beat in nine years until some pretty girl in a bar looked at me with these hazel eyes that tore straight through me, reminding me I’m not the heartless man I believed I was. You’re the air in my lungs and the smile on my lips. You’re my missing piece.”

Who would've ever thought I would enjoy a widower romance this much? Definitely not me! I absolutely loved Landon and Elle, and the family dynamic in this series keeps taking over my heart one book at a time and I wouldn't have it any other way.. I don't know what this author is doing to me, but I sure ain't complaining!

4.5 stars

This was the best book of these interconnected standalones. I loved Landon. Add in Elle and Stella and it even became better. I found myself relating to Elle in so many ways. Her personal experiences with her ex, her family, and even her teaching were reminiscent of me personally (just in varying degrees). I found that because of that I was able to connect with the story that much more.

This author always manages to create, not only a very enjoyable story but also characters that grow as the story progresses. I like that a lot. I am glad that Landon learned to open himself up and allow love to have a chance. He was an amazing father but his guilt was holding him back from being everything his Stella needed. There was a power that came with that.

The preview of what is coming next has me really excited. With the way that this year is moving (how is it the middle of April already?), I am sure that it will be here before I know it.

I've been a big fan of Ms. Saman's since I read the first book in this series. So, I couldn't wait to read Landon's story as a grumpy single dad and widower who is surprised and intrigued by a feisty outspoken teacher who was supposed to be a one-night stand.

Ellery "Elle" Wilde is divorced from an emotionally abusive ex-husband, living next door to the man she had a one-night stand with, and she is a middle school teacher who is teaching history and sex-ed to her grumpy neighbor's daughter. Oh, and the man is Dr. Landon Fritz from the billionaire Abbott-Fritz family though when she slept with him the asshole used his twin brother's name, Luca.  Now he treats her like something he stepped in. War it is. Challenge accepted.

Dr. Landon Fritz loves his family and his daughter is his number one priority. As part of a billionaire family full of doctors, there is no shortage of gold diggers and opportunists in his life, so when his new neighbor is the stunning woman he had mind-blowing sex the night before his hackles go up. He wants no part of her. He has his own guilt and baggage to carry and he doesn't need any complications. Until his daughter forms a bond with her and brings her into their lives. His daughter needs a woman in her life, but he hates this stubborn, sexy woman who is getting under his skin. Should he stay away and continue to be a lonely and angry man, or is it time to start anew?

Elle and Landon are two vulnerable people who don't know how to trust and love again. Elle has her clusterfuck of a crappy blackmailing family and her selfish and abusive narcissistic ex-husband. And guilt-ridden Landon blames himself for his wife's tragic death. Elle is kind and outspoken so when Landon keeps giving her mixed messages, I cheered for her candor while putting him in his place. My favorite was in the coffee shop when she shocked both Landon and Luca with her well-deserved comeback including a feisty wink and blowing a kiss in their direction. Priceless! I also want to add that Elle is an exceptional teacher as she takes on the subject of sex education with a bunch of middle schoolers. Elle's PTSD heartbreaking moment in the kitchen is an eye-opener and a decided change for Landon on how messed up and abusive her marriage was and how he treated Elle from then on.  Landon is difficult and brutally honest, but he shines as a single adoring dad for his daughter, Stella, such as designing a greenhouse for Stella supporting her love for environmental sustainability. As any parent knows, raising a child on their own is difficult and he is a busy surgeon who feels guilty leaving his daughter alone. His decision to let Elle be a part of his daughter's life as a teacher and a friend is another turning point that makes them grow as friends and more. And yes, it is rewarding seeing Elle bring happiness to Landon and Stella while they all learn to trust love again. Watching Landon's undoing is the best yet of the Fritz boys.

They have each other's backs and interfere in each other's lives in a loving way. I can't wait to hear Luca's story next. As for Elle's family, she's better off without that nasty crew of evil manipulators.

Once again, Ms. Saman does a fantastic job penning a beautiful heartwarming love story filled with emotionally damaged characters learning to forgive themselves and move on with their lives. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading all of the series to get to know the wonderful Abbot-Fritz family.

Thank you to Ms. Saman for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

I had higher hopes for this book.

4.5 BIG HEART STARS
I absolutely adore Elle & Landon and their story!
Landon is a heart surgeon who guards his own heart tightly in matters of romance. He saves all his love for his family.
Most specifically his daughter, Stella. She’s such a smart, lovable and unique teenager.
I love her and I love their relationship.
I enjoyed her and loved her connection and relationship with Elle also. There’s some really cute, fun and heartwarming scenes between them.
I’m not always a fan of kids as major secondary characters, it really works for this story and adds a lot of depth and warmth.
Also, some really relatable situations and some great humor happen with Stella.
She brings the characters together and she brings all those feelings of the angsty teen years.
She’s very smart and mature for her age, she keeps the adults on their toes.

Landon is grumpy and stand-offish with everyone but his daughter. He is determined to be the best dad and not to ever love a woman again.
He’s a wealthy and successful man who only allows himself occasional one night stands. No feelings, no attachment.
He has a lot of empathy underneath his gruff exterior. He tries to hide it a bit, but he’s actually quite big hearted and thoughtful. He has some extremely alpha protector moments and he’s absolutely swoon worthy!
I love the grumpy/sunshine trope and it works well with these characters.

Elle is a really sympathetic character, she’s had a rough go of it in life and she’s starting over in a new city and state.
She’s a sassy southern girl with a big heart.
She’s smart, understanding and kind.
Add in the spicy attitude and I think she was so much fun.
Her emotional intelligence and her empathy made me love her.

Lots of great quips and taunting between the main characters, I loved the tension and simmering attraction.

The characters have chemistry in spades, they challenge each other and understand each other on a deeper level.
They both have very similar tragedies in their past. They are at different places in processing the grief and guilt.

The story is a lot of fun, it also has some heavy and serious topics and scenarios that bring some dramatic twists.
It was balanced by the secondary characters humor, teasing, warmth and family love. Tons of heart in this story.
It’s very hot and sexy, too! I loved the sexy times between the characters, the tension from the push and pull, hot and cold made it exciting and intense.
They are fiery, fun and spicy when they get together. Lots of hot and some deliciously naughty times

4 stars. I liked it but her family was despicable. Elle has had it with men not respecting her and her life of pleasing others so she is making changes. Including a 1 night stand with a hot stranger. Its a well worn trope but I liked how it played out, especially with Stella and being neighbors. Its far fetched but still enjoyable as a story. I especially liked the "wellness" class sex-ed part.

She is pretty sassy with Luca and Landon:
"And since I can already tell you’re the one with the bigger ego of the two of you, you should know I would have gone to bed with a garden hose that night if it got me off. It had nothing to do with the guy and everything to do with starting my new life out on an orgasm.”

And as she gets to know Stella:
“I don’t like you having secrets with my daughter.”
“Sucks to be you then.”
Damn her.

I liked his family and their meddling ways, him and his brothers giving each other shit. That was entertaining.

And when she is tired of the whiplash that is Landon Fritz:
He can scowl all he wants, but the man had his face between my thighs last night along with what is likely his favorite appendage. If turning into a douchebag asshole is his routine after every time we have sex, then a come to Jesus chat is headed his way right quick.

Upon further reflection, my thanks to the author who lets us know that they had a birth control talk as well as how Landon makes a point to go wash his hands after some back door action. Most authors don’t address this, cleaning up! And that always sqicks me out.

Again insta love.
Heroine copy pasted from the last book.
Bad parents, breakup with husband.
