Pretty good wrap-up of Alex's adventures - action packed and for once the reader knows the scheme before Alex does

This is one of those books I read when I was younger and remembered it nostalgically-- through rose-coloured glasses. Okay, so it's written for 13 year old boys (side note why do I read so much fiction aimed at teen boys) but upon rereading it's just.. not that good.
But it's still decent. If you're in the mood for a spy adventure. If only the characters were a bit more fleshed out, and the writing was a bit better.
The only reason I picked this one up again was because I discovered the existence of a new final Alex Rider book-- even though this was supposedly the last one! Whatcha doing Horowitz?? Deciding to end your series on a rather sad note (which was a bold choice, and I actually support that decision-- bring some real world consequences into Alex's life, because he would have some severe PTSD and would be in dire need of therapy, it's beyond unrealistic for him to go back to a normal life)... but then 5 or so years later Horowitz is like "JK I changed my mind and wanna give this child a happy ending, I'm writing a new book."
I want to shame him but actually... this sounds like something I would totally do.
So anyway, despite the fact that Alex Rider is mediocre fare, I'm going full steam ahead into "Never Say Die."

I cant believe thats the end of Alex Rider book 9. What an amazing series to read. Loved every second of it all. Seriously would love to see it keep going. Well done Anthony Horowitz!
I am shocked by some of the stuff that happened in this book.
