The five stars are more for the series rather than this specific book. I am just impressed Horowitz was so realistic about the psychological damage done to Alex due to his forced actions and how the MI6 people were never really portrayed as good or evil. I also can't believe who he killed off in this one and how it was done. He didn't sugar coat anything, and yet it was still fun. I just really enjoyed the series, despite the awful covers.

I could have rated this book with 5 stars without even reading it. The Alex Rider books have never failed to blow my mind and Scorpia Rising, the ninth book in the series, was no exception. Anthony Horowitz is a commendable writer, with a most creative minds I know. I had to pull an all-nighter for this one!
So this time the criminal organization Scorpia is trailing Alex once again, after the teen spy led their past two missions to failure. And they probably know Alex, better than he knows himself because this time they're back with such an intricate plan, that the reader really starts worrying. The gadgets, the plotline, and the twists and turns are as impeccable as expected. And the cover is just, oh so sexy!
So if you haven't yet read this underrated series, I suggest YOU READ THIS RIGHT NOW!

I liked it but I did not really understand the plot. Edited I understood the plot this time I read the book and would have rated it 4.5 stars.
This series just gets better and better, this book has a lot more dangers and i think it’s one of the best books in the series.

I've been an Alex Rider fan for so long (I read my first book back in 2004) that it's really hard to fathom there will be no more books in this series. I've been looking forward to and at the same time dreading this last novel. Overall I really loved it, but it's not as good as I needed it to be. While I loved the story and couldn't tear myself away, I have to admit right now I'm mostly feeling disappointed about the ending. While none of these stories are exactly realistic, I thought the ending was especially hard to believe, although for completely different reasons. When a beloved series comes to an end you want to feel fully indulged, but it's left me feeling a little dissatisfied. Don't get me wrong though, the main story was amazing. I was actually really nervous pretty much the whole way through, in a how-on-earth-are-they-going-to-get-out-of-this-one kind of way. I have that feeling with every Alex Rider book, but this one topped them all. It would've been perfect if not for the strange ending.
The best yet! Anthony Horowitz really is a master wordsmith!
have been reading these books for years and when this last one arrived i felt sliightly upset. Not as good as i hoped, but v good end.
