Synopsis: I think this one is more fun if you go in somewhat blind because the “twist” takes place in the prologue. In short, this is a story about half sisters who are renovating a beach house after their father leaves it to them in his will.

Thoughts: I liked the concept of this one a lot, but for me the characters were so unlikeable that I couldn’t get invested in the story. One of the sisters, Kat, was so immature and entitled that I truly couldn’t get past it. Also a fair warning if you’re not a fan of a miscommunication trope - the miscommunication in this one is next level. That being said, it was a summery, light read that could definitely get you in the mood for the beach!

Hello, perfect summer read! Storylines from two half-sisters are wound together as they inherit their late father's beach house. But there are a few problems: they haven't talked to each other in years, they don't like each other, and the beach house is falling apart.

I loved how Kat and Blake's storylines were distinct, but balanced each other well and met in all the right places to create a wonderful sisterhood narrative. Plus, we get TWO love stories! Can't complain about that!! I definitely liked one character more than another (and found one pretty obnoxious for most of the book), but loved her character growth in the end. Our male MCs are perfectly swoon-worthy supporting characters, adding lightness and fun in contrast with many of the characters' difficult backstories. I couldn't put this book down and I promise you are going to want this in your beach bag this summer!

Thanks to Berkeley for the copy of this ARC!

This was good, but maybe I'm just ready to transition out of the beach reads for the year. Kat and Blake (sisters by default of a cheating father), work to restore the old beach house said cheating father left to them both upon his death. Throw in some mishaps, miscommunications, and some long lost love interests, and you've got yourself a funny, entertaining story, but I'm afraid one that may not stick with me for long.

Would recommend, however, I think my timing was just off.

Kat and Blake met at summer camp and quickly became inseparable. But after they realize they are half-sisters and their dad has been keeping a huge secret, they never speak again. Until 15 years later when their father dies and leaves them both the family beach house. Together, they plan to renovate the house, but that involves many conflicting opinions along the way. The question quickly becomes can they each deal with their past and learn to become sisters?

This was such a heartwarming story about sisterhood, healing, and finding yourself. I truly loved everything about this book. Each sister had her own distinct personality and journey, but they ended up complimenting each other so well (even if it didn’t seem like they would). I loved each of their love interests and how those stories played out. I especially loved Noah and his nicknames for Max the dog. This was a book that had me laughing, had me feeling emotional, and left me feeling like a warm hug. I can’t wait to see what else Ali Brady comes up with!

Thank you to Berkley Publishing for the advanced copy.

The Beach Trap follows estranged sisters, Kat and Blake, who inherit a beach house in Florida after their father passes away. Kat has strong emotional ties to the beach house, and Blake wants to fix it up to sell to financially take care of her grandfather, and move on with her life. Agreeing that Blake will fix up the beach house through the summer, and Kat will get funds to buy Blake out, the two spend the summer navigating their complicated feelings about their father, one another, and falling in love.
--
This was a sweet sentimental story about estranged family coming together. but I thought I would like this a lot more than I did going in. I really liked the message and there were some endearing moments between Kat and Blake, but the pacing was inconsistent and rushed, the writing was pretty stark and surface level (reading more like it was instructional than storytelling), and the development of the romance for both storylines felt hurried and underdeveloped.

Thank you to #NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the arc!

This book was an easy read, and it was very sweet. I enjoyed it (despite being in a slump), but it wasn’t amazing.

i was very unsure about this book at first tbh. i reallllyyyyy! don’t love the miscommunication trope and this was VERY heavy on miscommunications. i also could not stand kat at times (100% was ready to throw hands during the noah and blake confrontation, it’s true). but i’m really glad i stuck through the end!! despite everything it was a cute, funny, slightly emotional! beach read and i loved loved loved how everything came together in the end!!!!

A feel-good, fast paced beach read. I’m surprised this one isn’t more popular!

The Beach Trap was a highly anticipated read for me and I loved it so much! Ali Brady is a pseudonym for Alison Hammer and Bradeigh Godfrey, both of whom I am friends with on Instagram. I was thrilled to be able to read their joint debut. “The point of life is to be alive in the world, to feel every emotion, even the messy and painful ones.” In The Beach Trap, Blake and Kat are half sisters who are reunited after their father passes away and leaves them his beach house in Destin, FL. Both women have struggles due to their relationship (or lack there of) with their father and although he wasn’t the best guy, leaving them the house jointly was kind of amazing of him. Because their relationship with each other needed healing. ⁣I loved that this was a sister story, plus each of them found a potential love interest in Destin as well. Add in a dog, a cute child, and the beach location and you have a perfect summer read!
