This was everything I wanted it to be, and more. The perfect romance to read at Christmastime

Love at first sight and then there is some time before she sees him again. A very cute love story.

Read it for a second time after absolutely loving it the first time around (around 3 years ago).
I think the book had a sort of emotional halo around it for me and I wanted to see if it would stand the second time around.
I still thought it was great, but it didn't impact me as much as my first read. Perhaps the lack of emotional tug this round was partly due to my being married now (versus being single during the first read). As a happily married woman, I find it a bit inconceivable that Laurie refuses to move to Brussels for Oscar for no truly good reason. I truly think they could have had a lasting marriage, but understand that the purpose of this book is to trek the long and windy road that leads to Laurie and Jack ending up together after all the twists and turns.
Nonetheless, I love Josie Silver's ability to create likeable and relatable characters who are far from perfect and all exhibit very human flaws.

Jack doesn’t deserve either of them.

I'm clearly basic as hell because I loved this book. It wasn't a total 5. But it was cheesy without being cheesy and it made sense that life goes on.. while some things fall into their own place slowly.
I do prefer books where characters take life by the horns a bit more, but I liked it nonetheless

I thought this was ok. I didn’t love it and I found it really slow but it was enjoyable

This was exactly what I needed to read this month among all the true crime and gory thrillers that I usually read. I thought the book sounded adorable, and I just wanted something to cozy up with on the couch during December. This couldn't have even been more perfect!

This book starts with Laurie getting on a bus and looking out the window to see a man staring at her too, and in that moment, she feels love at first sight is a really thing. She wants and needs to speak to this man. But this man has gotten off the bus, so she watches as they pull away as he stays where they were. Months pass and she's still hung up on him. Her best friend Sarah knows they're out searching for this guy Laurie saw because she just knows it's love. A full year later, at Sarah and Laurie's annual Christmas party, Sarah brings her new boyfriend for Laurie to meet, and it's none other than Jack (the guy she's been searching for). This is not a spoiler, and in fact, the story really builds from this beginning part. It's set from 2011-2017 so quite a decent amount of time for a decent amount to happen among the group.

One Day in December has alternating points of views from both Laurie and Jack, and as always, I think this really enhances the way the story is able to be told. It's so interesting to see how each deal with the situation in the best way that they know how. This book really didn't have many Christmas references or winter feels to it besides the fact that most of the plot did happen during December or the winter time. But the book does jump to any month during the span of time of the book. This was so cute and perfect.

So, so lovely. Perfect for this time of year. Made me miss England horribly and want to watch Bridget Jones.
