Wilde in Love

Review - I was a little disappointed in this book as I saw some great reviews, and have loved Eloisa James's other books. I don't know what else I wanted from this book as I loved the characters, all of them actually, which is unusual. Perhaps I wanted more description of the castle itself and the bog around the castle which seemed to affect Alaric so much. I still would read more of this series, as I am intrigued by the Wilde family - Alaric, North, Betsy, Spartacus, and the rest. I am already starting the next book in the series, so look out for a review soon!

This didn't quite work for me... There was something a little too airy and easy about Alaric and Willa's courtship, no real obstacles stood between them. And whilst the setting was fun and I enjoyed the play that hilariously haunts our hero, the stakes never felt high and I didn't cheer for this couple, I just found myself shruggingly accepting the inevitable.

My average luck reading streak continues! I'm hoping a book I love lies in wait very soon.

I can't emphasize how much I did not like this book. I had to check twice to make sure that this was written by the same author who wrote two books that I greatly enjoyed ([b:When Beauty Tamed the Beast|8449698|When Beauty Tamed the Beast (Fairy Tales, #2)|Eloisa James|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1282320694s/8449698.jpg|13313623] and [b:Three Weeks With Lady X|18052956|Three Weeks With Lady X (Desperate Duchesses by the Numbers, #1; Desperate Duchesses, #7)|Eloisa James|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1382507520s/18052956.jpg|25337638]). The heroine was quite frankly boring. The hero was obsessed with the heroine for no apparent reason. The only people I liked in this book were their best friends who feuded with each other constantly - if they have a book, I will read that. Oh and the skunk, I liked the skunk. Yup, that's pretty much it.

i REALLY wanted to like this more than i did but it kind of fell flat. like it was fun to read but i was not invested. the dialogue was clever and sparkling but the romance didn't really work for me. ms james' worst book is still better than a lot of romances i've read so really it's like a four for anyone else.

So boring. Didn’t care for nor connect with the hero or heroine. Romance lacked tension.
