The Pucking Wrong Number
Rating: ⭐/5
This is the first book in a five-part series, but unfortunately, it did not work for me and I will not be continuing.
The premise has potential: a “wrong number” leading to an unexpected connection between two strangers. However, the execution left much to be desired. The narrative relies heavily on familiar romance clichés — a wealthy, attractive male lead, a quirky but somewhat passive female lead, and an instant attraction that quickly turns into an intense relationship. Unfortunately, the story rarely moves beyond these tropes.
The pacing is uneven. While the book attempts to blend romance, drama, and intimacy, the frequent explicit scenes often interrupt the flow of the plot rather than enhance it. The emotional depth feels underdeveloped, and many moments that could have carried weight are overshadowed by repetitive exchanges and predictable developments.
Characterization is also a weak point. The male lead’s intensity often crosses into controlling behavior, while the female lead’s responses feel inconsistent and lacking in agency. Their chemistry comes across as more physical than emotional, which makes it difficult to believe in the longevity or authenticity of their connection. Side characters are minimally developed and contribute little to the story’s depth.
In terms of writing style, the prose is straightforward but lacks nuance. Emotional beats are often told rather than shown, and the dialogue tends toward simplicity. The “romance” is more about heightened tension than believable emotional progression, which may appeal to some readers but ultimately left me detached.
While the book delivers on certain surface-level elements of contemporary romance, it does so at the expense of plot cohesion, emotional resonance, and character growth. Readers seeking a slow-burn romance with layered personalities and strong narrative structure may find this lacking.
Final verdict: 1 star — for the initial concept, but the execution did not deliver.

I have heard nothing but good things about this book online and I was not disappointed lol
I am mainly a MM reader so this is my first MF book is a really long time. But let me just say, I don’t dislike MF or any variation of it, I just read more MM books
