  • Duet narration, the female narrator sounds young. Okay performance.
  • Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
  • MMC is a red flag golden retriever. FMC is a wallflower who catches his attention and doesn’t hate it. Completely dysfunctional codependent relationship but at least they both acknowledge it and just kinda shrug.
  • This is kind like mafia vibes but a blonde MMC that carries a hockey stick instead of an Italian with a gun. Expect that extreme over the top protective, obsessive behavior and that’s the vibe you’ll find in this book.

Not a fan of this book. I normally like dark romance/stalker books, but this one was just ugh. FMC was annoying and it really got worse throughout. MMC was just an idiot. He ties her to his bed until she loves him?!?! Blah 👎

This story follows Monroe, who grew up in a broken home with a mother who barely paid her any attention and only cared about her own needs. Now at 19, Monroe is trying to make something of herself by working two jobs and studying. Dating or relationships haven’t been on her mind—until an anonymous text comes through, and the sender becomes very obsessive.

First off, I highly recommend the audiobook. Alexis and Troy did a fantastic job narrating this, so definitely pick it up in that format. I also want to mention this is more character driven with a little plot.

Starting with Monroe—I love reading about a character who’s had a tough upbringing, wants to be nothing like her parents, and works hard to make ends meet. She’s also someone who won’t accept things that are easily handed to her. I found her to be a strong character, especially considering everything she’s been through.

Then we have the MMC, Lincoln—a famous hockey player who’s completely psycho and obsessive. This man was delicious, though. He was hooked from the moment he saw her. I don’t know what it says about me, but what he did was so toxic—and I’m here for it. He honestly would do anything for her, and I was swooning.

I’m looking forward to the next book to see where Ari’s story leads!

Thank you, Podium, for sending me the audiobook!

If you need a good sports romance but make it dark, this book is for you. I was in such a book slump and this cured it. Consumed this book so fast.

While the hockey aspects were a bit too unrealistic this book hit all the darkness correctly. Perfect amount of spice throughout the whole book.

May we all find morally grey MMCs who tattoo our name on them before truly meeting us.
