Didn't finish, just found it boring.

Perhaps not my very favorite Kate Atkinson novel, but it is so good. A tour through London's Soho after WWI with suspense, intrigue, and always Atkinson's marvelous sense of humor. The characters are of course, unforgettable and grab your heart. I was surprised that the main character, Nellie Coker, is based on a real person, a woman who ran much of the Soho nightclub scene in the 20's and 30's.

3.5 stars. I like Kate Atkinson and I enjoyed the setting, but most of the characters felt flat and there were long stretches of narrative with no real action.

4.5 stars. Slow start, but wove together brilliantly. The characters were vibrant, the plot surprising. Audiobook was great.

Loved this book so much, could picture the London described and really enjoyed the characters

Aah, surely not the same Atkinson who penned Life After Life! This was that infuriating novel that is incredibly, painstakingly, slow for about 4000 pages and then awkwardly rushes to a neatly-packaged ending for every character. I would read an entire book about Miss Kelling and Miss Kelling alone.
