By the synopsis , i was of the belief that this would be a very tame book , turns out ... This stuff is dark AF.
WHAT I LIKED :
The writing in here is very crisp , allowing readers to swift though the pages and be intrigued with each passing page , making this 350 odd paged book feel like something very succinct instead . The story adds to this reading experience coz the plot feels heavy on intrigue and kept me wanting to know more with each passing chapter .
The author also managed to make a quick change of status quo in the final 100 or so pages with almost each and every character and while some of those turns were fairly expected , a few came out of nowhere and i was pleasantly surprised of them .
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE :
Somehow i came to dislike every character who did morally corrupt things throughout the book , this was not helped by tons of elements that i could easily see coming , like who the real villain is . This dampned many surprises and i believe those readers who dont guess the twists , will likely have more of a blast in reading this.
That said , simply guessing the reveals wasnt the turn off , coz while i saw the twists coming , the exact nature of said twists and how those twists are navigated by characters remained an entertaining experience.
Meanwhile the finale felt like too easy and i felt let down by it's nature , both by how the villain's demise was met and how the protagonist survives felt way too anti-climatic
CONCLUSION:
Overall , this was a good-read filled with twists and turns and tons of thrills , there were let downs in terms of likability of characters and poor foreshadowing on part of author , but overall it's a good binge worthy read .

I enjoyed this book so much! Freida McFadden is amazing with the twists. Some of it is easy to predict, but then there's plenty that leaves you telling, "What?!"

This is a fast paced book and not bad by any means. I liked the plot twist and it was only slightly predictable.
