The Bosun was so good! It was emotional, impactful, and sweet all wrapped in to one. This book was definitely one I enjoyed and would tell people to read!

Stella is a sweet but also strong women who is trying to find happiness after being cheated on. Remy is just trying to get through each day after having strong guilt being in the military. The connection between these characters is one that is instant. There was a sense of comfortability when Remy and Stella first meet. These two are very down to earth characters, however they both have to overcome from their pasts to grow as a person and live a happy life. There was definitely some steam between Remy and Stella. This book is a wild journey that proves fate is a thing.

I love how Harlow always includes other characters from the series / other books into her current book. To me it adds a sense familiarness. This is definitely one of the writing styles I love of Harlow Layne. I can’t wait to see what Harlow has in store for us next. I’m definitely looking forward to Penelope and Walkers book!

I had the privilege of getting an early copy of this book before it was released. Our main characters are Stella and Remy who meet when Stella spends a holiday on a yacht in the Mediterranean where Remy is the bosun.

Stella is going through a challenging moment in her life. Fresh from a divorce she’s trying to get her life back after years of putting her dreams to the side to support her now ex-husband. She gets an invitation to spend a well-deserved break travelling on a posh yacht through the Spanish coasts with her friends. She is immediately drawn by the young and handsome bosun of the vessel.

Sparks fly between Remy and Stella so much so that their mutual attraction is evident for everyone aboard, which creates a little soap opera between crew and guests.

All good things must come to an end so Stella goes back to California and Remy goes through a rough time. He is a lost soul, with no permanent home and struggling with his past. Remy starts an emotional journey of his own to reconnect his previous life to the man he wants to become.

The Bosun gave me all the feels. I loved Stella’s best friend and seeing Ryder and Lexie from The Model. I can not recommend this book enough, it is a beautiful love story where the heroes work hard to overcome difficult times and rebuild their lives to find the happiness they deserve.

The Bosun hit me in an unexpected way. I wasn’t expecting to feel so many emotions when reading it.

Stella is newly divorced and she is ready to move on and live her life starting with a trip to Spain with her friends. She doesn’t expect to have a little vacation fling with one of the works on the boat. Remy left the military and started a new life in Spain working on a yacht. The moment him and Stella meet there is an instant connection.

I instantly fell in love with Stella. She is one of those women who you just want to become best friends with. I loved seeing her confidence grow throughout the story. She has moved on from her divorce and now she is ready to live her life and have what she wants in her life. Remy, it is easy to fall for him. He is kind, caring, protective, but also broken inside. He is struggling with events that happened during his time in the military. The two of them together are amazing. They balance each other out and have some insane chemistry.

This story is emotional, it is beautiful, it is steamy. I loved Stella and Remy, plus all the secondary characters were a great addition. I loved getting to see more of Lexie and Ryder (whose story is featured in The Model) and I am looking forward to the next story, which is Stella’s best friend Penelope.

If you are looking for an age gap, military romance this is one to check out.

Harlow Layne has written a beautiful story of two unlikely people and the love they share. This is a story with all the things you want in a good romance plus a little bit more.

Stella and Remy don’t work on paper, they are in two totally different places in life, but just because it doesn’t make sense doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work. Their journey is not an easy one, and timing is everything.

This is a steamy, rocky romance but it will be worth it in the end. It features some secondary characters that we are happy to see again and some new characters that hopefully we will get to see more of!

All in all Harlow has done what she does best, she has given us an emotional love story that will grab your attention and not let it go!

Stella is 37 years old and has just gotten divorced from Brock who has been cheating on her and now she is preparing to start again. Luckily for her, she and her best friend Penelope have been invited for a vacation onboard of a yacht with several other friends.

There she meets Remy St. James, the bosun who happens to save her life one today when she falls overboard. Yet Stella knows there isn't much chance of ever seeing him again and allows herself one night with him.

But will fate allow her more than one night?

This was a good book about falling in love and fate.

I really liked Stella and felt bad for everythign that had happened to her with her ex, Brock. I was very glad that Penelope was there for her and was making her move to California to be with her and start again. I thought Pen was great and I liked that she pushed Stella to put the moves on Remy!

There was a definite attraction between Remy and Stella but both of them had pasts that they were each trying to get over in their own way. They both knew that they wanted one night together but each also wanted more although they separately didn't think it was possible. I give credit to Remy for trying and he had a 50% chance of getting it right.

I was happy when Remy finally began to forgive himself and get help for the events that occurred in Afghanistan. It's so sad how many survivors have so much guilt and it is definitely something serious.

I liked how fate intervened with Remy and Stella but I hated how it ended up turning out and my heart broke for Stella and I was so mad at Remy. I was happy how Remy talked to Eric about everything that had happened overseas and with Stella and Eric's advice for him.

I was happy that Lexie helped Stella at one point and pushed her to find Remy. Everything that occurred in Florida made me happy and it was just the push to make everyone realize what they needed to.

The very end was awesome and I look forward to more with these characters!!

Trigger warnings: cheating (in the past), death of a friend, mental health, racism, fire, faeces,
unplanned pregnancy

Okay, here's the deal: I literally only picked this up because the blurb implies that it's set in Spain and I feel like I'm slacking on my goal to read more books set outside the US and the UK this year. About 40% of this book is based on a luxury yacht - called Seas the Day, which made me want to hurl things across the room - off the coast of Spain. The rest takes place in the US. Sigh.

So I had a few problems with this:
1. I struggled with the grammar and punctuation. This needed an editor. Like, badly. The worst thing I had to read was "I didn't cheat on her asshole", a sentence that clearly should have had a comma in it but which is hysterical without. But there were many other examples throughout that pulled me out of the story.
2. The plot is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Stella wants to move on from her cheating lying ex-husband. So she goes on holiday with her BFFs to Spain. Except she actually hates some of her BFFs. And then she and the bosun on the yacht, Remy, eye fuck each other for like four days. And then they legit fuck. And then he disappears on her because he found out on Instagram that his Marine Corps buddy died. And then four months later, she finds out he left her a note in her BFF's handbag thinking it was hers. But she has no way of contacting him. So she buys a house in Malibu, spies on her neighbours fucking in their pool, befriends them (they're clearly the protagonists from a previous book), goes on holiday with the wife to Amsterdam, takes a nap when she gets back and finds Remy at her door because now he's a firefighter and there's a wildfire near her house???. They hook up for a couple of weeks, he says they can't be together, he goes back to Florida to sulk, she finds out she's pregnant and goes to confront him. Her being pregnant is enough to have him make a legit decision about his future. And then we get a lengthy epilogue set two years in the future that's mostly about him proposing but there's also a huge scene of him cleaning up the shit their daughter smeared all over her bedroom wall and then you go from that to them repeatedly fucking at a cabin on their honeymoon and honestly? This book was like being caught inside a pinball machine.
3. Stella was biracial, but it was really only dropped into the plot a handful of times to give her ONE personality trait, and that was "I'm not like other Black women"
4. While I appreciated that - unlike many contemporary romances - they actually had friends, I didn't think the friends needed to be so prevalent in the story
5. The whole subplot about Stella's best friend and the musician she was fucking? Don't care. A waste of my time.
6. At least it cost me $0 because I read it on KU??

Harlow Layne continues with an angsty and enjoyable read. I think this is my favourite out of all the books in the series. I couldn't put it down. It was so relatable and addicting. Stella and Remy definitely hit the spot for me, they gave me all the feels. The chemistry between them is off the charts and the storyline is filled with funny, steamy and emotional moments. I loved it and it's a must read!

The Bosun is just downright amazing. I couldn't put it down, had me on the edge of the seat the whole time!

The chemistry between the main characters was to die for. The overall emotions was what you would expect from it.

I highly recommend this book for everyone who loves angst types of books.
